Service Information
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 23, at 2:00 PM at Gesu Catholic Church, 1145 West Wisconsin Avenue (W. Wisconsin Avenue at North 12th Street). Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery will be private for the family.

Died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on January 20, 2010 at the age of 67. Longtime resident of River Hills. Best friend and loving husband for 20 years of Karen (nee Kraynick) Blommer. Proud father of Richard (Taffy), Peter, Anne, Michael, and William Blommer. Cherished grandfather of Ally, Maggie and Katie. Dear brother of Henry (Judith) Blommer Jr., Peter (Sally) Blommer and of the late Ann Blommer Drake. Further survived by other relatives and many dear friends. Joe was born in Milwaukee, WI on April 10, 1942. He was a graduate of Country Day School and a 1964 graduate of Georgetown University where he served on the Board of Regents. Joe was a dedicated and loyal leader of the Blommer Chocolate Company. He was a man with a vision of success and had an exceptional love for his job. Far exceeding that was his love for his family. As a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, Joe enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family, whether it was a day of skiing or simply enjoying a relaxing day at home. He will be missed more than words can express. His spirit will live forever in the hearts of his family and friends. The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to Healthreach and Stowell and Associates, especially Sarah, Tanya, Amanda and George for their loving and compassionate care.
