A Memorial Service honoring Bill’s life will be held on Sunday, April 18, at 1:00 PM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 914 East Knapp Street, Milwaukee. Family will greet friends following the service.

Passed away on February 28, 2010 at the age of 79. Longtime resident of Mequon and Milwaukee. Beloved husband of Penny Gray Howland. Loving father of Kimberly (Dave) Meyer, William “Jay” (Amy) Howland, Jr., Andrew (Lori) Howland, Margaret “Peggy” (Ned) Purtell, Marion MacNeil and Elizabeth “Liza” (Mike) Caputo. Grumps was the proud grandfather of Teddy, Sara, and Anneliese Meyer; Will and Augie Howland; A.J. and Charlie Howland; Carolyn, Elizabeth and Eddie Purtell; Penn, Gracie and Charlie MacNeil; and Isabella and Marina Caputo. Bill was a graduate of Milwaukee Country Day School and Yale University and worked at Badger Meter Inc. He had a true love for his family and friends and will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to Bill’s longtime friend and doctor, Dr. Gholi Darien.
