Service Information Visitation will take place on Monday, April 19, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the Milwaukee Catholic Home, St. Anne’s Chapel, 2462 North Prospect Avenue, Milwaukee, followed by the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at Mound Cemetery in Racine.

Newspaper Notice Entered into Eternal Life on April 14, 2010 at the age of 95. Resident of Milwaukee Catholic Home former longtime resident of Racine and Treasure Island, FL. Beloved daughter of the late Martin and Mary (nee Blaskey) Betthauser. On June 28, 1937 she was united in marriage to Gordon Adelmer Bishop at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomah, WI; he preceded her in death in 1969. On April 6, 1974 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Racine, WI she was united in marriage to Alex T. Witte; he preceded her in death in 1995. Helen is the loving mother of Dr. John C. (Mary) Bishop of Green Bay, WI; Mary (David) Nelson of Shorewood, WI; Victoria (Gregory) McLaughlin of Rye, NY; Paul (Maureen) Bishop of Libertyville, IL; stepchildren: Robin Kuypers-Witte of Oakland, CA; Lynne Beuterbaugh of Harrison, AK; Mark (Kathy) Witte of Odessa, FL; Brooke Witte of Wind Lake, WI; and Kurt Witte of Denver, CO. Proud grandmother of Jennifer, Shannon, John, Stephen, Kristina, Sara, Ann Margaret, Victoria, Elizabeth, Brian, Molly, Anne, Nora, Sarah, Scott, Adam, Paige, Yale, Aaron, Luke, John, Noah, and 17 great-grandchildren as well as numerous friends and relatives.
Helen was born in Tunnel City, WI on June 28, 1914. She attended St. Teresa College for Women in Winona, MN and was a graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. As a member of the Racine Community for over 66 years, Helen was active in many civic organizations including the Racine Family Service, Catholic Women’s Club, Racine Community Chest/Unified Fund, St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, American Red Cross, St. Rose Altar Society, and Girl Scouts of Racine County. Helen worked with the Racine United School district until her retirement at the age of 70. In 1969 during her years with the school district, she helped to establish Camp Kinder, a day camp for youth with developmental disabilities that continues to this day.
