Entered into Eternal Life on May 8, 2010 at her home in Palm Beach, FL at the age of 85. Former longtime resident of Mequon, River Hills and Bayside. The cause was Alzheimer’s disease, after the onset of dementia spanning more than a decade. She is survived by her husband of 61 years Ettore “Barb”, her four children: daughters Valentina, Lovedy Patricia and Elizabeth Louise Barbatelli, and son Ettore “Chess” (Gretchen) Barbatelli, Jr., seven grandchildren: Gina, Maria, Gabriel, Christopher, Victoria, Cristiana and Ettore III. She will be deeply missed by her family and all whose lives she touched. Mrs. Barbatelli was a loving, intelligent, friendly and determined lady. Raised as an only child by her mother, Mrs. Barbatelli attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington DC. An inclusive, sociable friend to all who knew her, Mrs. Barbatelli excelled academically at the University of Maryland and was voted president of her sorority, Kappa Delta. After graduating cum laude and first in her class in her Accounting major in 1946, she pursued a career in accounting with the CPA firm of Pogson, Peloubet and Company, in New York City. Mrs. Barbatelli was a determined and focused individual, becoming the first woman in the company’s history to be sent out on a client audit. She credited her step-father as the inspiration behind her interest in accounting and finance. Mrs. Barbatelli met her husband Ettore Barbatelli at a World War II USO dance. Following his return from a forty-month tour in the Asiatic Pacific theatre with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the two were married on Nov. 6, 1948, at St. John Wilmot Episcopal Church in East Chester, N.Y. While living in Baltimore, MD, Mrs. Barbatelli taught elementary school. Mr. and Mrs. Barbatelli soon relocated to Morristown, N.J., to raise their family, relocating again in 1963 to Milwaukee WI.
